Sarah Johnson adds a catchy new word to your vocabulary with her new single Lovinaires®. The song tells the story of being rich in love versus material possessions. With imagery like dancing in an empty living room to Johnson making up (and trademarking) the actual title of the song, each lyric delivers the clear message: love is the most valuable currency.

What inspired you to write this song?
In the beginning of my career, I was coming to terms with a musician’s lifestyle and typical income (if you know what I mean). But I wanted to give myself the chance to pursue my passions, no matter how finances work out. At the time, I was interested in someone who was also trying to figure out his career. When I thought about our future, the notion just came to me, “Oh well, we’ll be Lovinaires.” And just like that the song came to be. I spent months making notes in my phone with ideas for the song - and took it to Katrina Cain who helped me complete it! I love how it turned out.
How did you come up with the visuals?
It all started with the pink vintage dress. I knew I wanted to wear the dress in the cover art with a vintage visual theme. When I decided on a Valentine’s release, I started looking up retro / vintage Valentine cards. I found a picture of a woman in a heart cutout. I sent it to my creative director and said, “This is what we’re going to do.” So I went out and built the set myself - which took some very large foam boards, red paint, and a lot of patience. It was such a fun project and I love getting to not only create the song but create the visual direction of it as well.
What do you hope listeners get from hearing the song?
I hope Lovinaires® is a beautiful reminder that it’s far better to be rich in love than anything material. At end of the day, everything fades, rusts, and doesn’t matter…but love remains.
How have audiences reacted to the term “Lovinaires”?
I usually tee up the song with “I made up a word for this…” and then watch their reaction when I say “Lovinaires.” It’s really fun to see them smile, nod, or clap. You don’t often hear someone make up a new word for a song, so it’s often a well received surprise.

What’s next for Sarah Johnson
I am going on a Lovinaires® Texas Tour in Dallas, Houston, La Grange, and Austin. I also have several songs to release that will all have their own creative campaigns - so I’m very excited about that!
